Yoga to Enhance Creativity

Running online, 6PM – 7:30PM, 28 January.
A recording of this session will be made available to attendees, to continue the practise as they wish.

Yoga is an excellent tool to make use of in our everyday lives and our writerly lives! Conscious breathing, mindful movement and a little bit of introspection can help us slow down and tap into our creative energy, as well as shifting up our perspective. This yoga workshop will include breath practices, meditation and accessible movement to offer up the possibility of inner and outer connectivity and a chance to find a little bit of quiet.

This session will take place online, via Writers Victoria’s online platform.

All that’s needed is an internet connection and access to a bit of space. Just wear something comfy (PJs welcome!) and come as you are. Absolutely everyone is welcome and I’ll give lots of options for people with different needs or levels of experience. Please let us know in advance if you are pregnant or have any pre-existing injuries or accessibility needs.

You will learn:

  • Breathing techniques

  • Mindfulness meditation practices

  • Ways of moving that can help your body feel good

  • Simple yoga poses (learnt from the inside out) that you can use whenever you need them

  • A bit of balance (on and off the yoga mat)

Hannah Cartmel (she/her) was lucky enough to discover yoga in her teens and has been teaching since 2013. She is a Hatha and Vinyasa teacher with a background in dance and a love of Hanna Somatics. She combines different styles of movement in a joyful way while encouraging mindfulness and injury-prevention. Hannah firmly believes that yoga should be accessible and fun for all people and she encourages students to develop a yoga practice that suits their unique needs.
