About the author

Jan Nary worked for 15 years with the Australian Consumers’ Association (publishers of CHOICE magazine) and was their national public and media spokesperson. She moved to Brisbane in the late 1980s to take up an on-air position with ABC Radio. In 1992 she setup her own publicity/ media liaison business, working on projects as diverse as major charities, national motorcycle races, multicultural and indigenous projects, human rights legislation and science symposia. Most of her work now centres on promoting performers and festivals. She was the publicist for the Maleny/Woodford Festival for six years and has been the National Folk Festival’s publicist since 1998. She also works as a freelance journalist, trainer, community radio presenter and compère – and still dabbles a little in acting to keep the show pony in her soul content.
