Ahead of the July 10th full program reveal, Melbourne Writers Festival has announced an early release of tickets for their big guests to attend this year, which includes influential rock music figure Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth, Body/Head) alongside Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson and Holocaust historian Deborah Lipstadt.

Gordon has been writing and performing experimental rock music for more than three decades. In 1981, she co-founded the band Sonic Youth, for which she sang and played guitar and bass. In addition to her talents as a musician, she’s also a visual artist whose work has been exhibited world wide in addition to a  designer and writer, with her memoir Girl In A Band being published in 2015. The New York Times bestseller details her prolific creative journey from artist to musician in addition to the raw painful split with Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore, who will be in town for a Wheeler Centre event shortly after MWF! Gordon’s appearance at MWF will be in conversation with broadcaster broadcaster Fee B-Squared.
