2019 Stella longlist celebrates the power of personal storytelling

Addressing pressing cultural and social issues, and weighted towards fiction, the 12 titles selected for the 2019 Stella Prize longlist were announced on Thursday.

With five non-fiction works on this year’s longlist, the Stella Prize judges – Amelia Lush, Louise Swinn, Michelle de Kretser, Daniel Browning, and Kate McClymonth – said the books by Australian women published in 2018 were ‘a sample of the zeitgeist, a look at what is informing our thinking right now’.
