It’s one of life’s ironies that the harder you work, the more work you have to do.

Such is the case for the Australian Book Review (ABR), whose championing of short fiction saw them receive an epic 1200 entries in this year’s Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize. Amy Baillieu, Deputy Editor of ABR and one of the prize’s three judges, was not perturbed.
