The wild ride of ideas in Byron Bay

BYRON BAY WRITERS' FESTIVAL: This will be Director, Jenni Caffin’s fourth and last festival before she hands over the reigns in September to incoming director Candida Baker. ‘She knows the crazy town in which this takes place, says Caffin. ‘She’s an absolutely great choice, and she’s got a wild ride ahead of her.’

It’s about conversations, says Jeni Caffin, Byron Bay Writers Festival Director.

She makes her fast and furious final checks with all the authors and speakers, around Anzac Day each year before the program goes to print. ‘After a few days of that, my head is like this great huge balloon, full of conversations and memorable phrases and words, and encounters.’
