Caro Llewellyn, former Sydney Writers’ Festival Director is leaving the PEN World Voices Festival to direct the 100th anniversary celebrations of the New York Public Library in 2011.

‘It was a total surprise, I wasn’t looking to move, I wasn’t looking to do anything,’ says Llewellyn. But after four PEN festivals in New York, the same as she had for the Sydney Writers’ Festival, it clearly seemed like a good time. The New York Public Library would seem to have turned to Llewellyn in particular to make it a big, happy and broad based celebration, the same traits she brought to the Sydney Writers Festival (SWF).
