The hunger for Young Adult (YA) fiction has grown substantially since it was first categorised as a genre in the 1960s. Given the strong international market – ranging from classics such as JD Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye to the Goosebumps series and the now-iconic franchise that is Harry Potter – it’s easy to overlook our local market, which is remarkably healthy.
