Thanks to a recent generous donation, Writers Victoria is offering a Woman of Colour based in Victoria a paid commission for a new piece of work to be published in The Victorian Writer magazine (to the value of $200).
Submissions must align with one of our upcoming themes, which are:
- October-November: Chrysalis – emerging writers, emerging from the margins, transformative reading/writing; Grace Marion Wilson Emerging Writers prize winners
- December-January: Recovery – personal or planetary, pre- or post-pandemic; recovered memories/stories/culture/history; re-writing; rediscovered literary classics
To apply, you can submit short stories, poems, creative non-fiction, or non-fiction works up to 1600 words. (800-1200 words are preferred.) 150-word pitches for non-fiction will also be considered, but please note that the full non-fiction piece being pitched will need to be 800 to 1600 words.
Your submission should include:
- A 25-word bio.
- A short statement about the piece.
- Your piece in full or pitch (full pieces are preferred).
