SUBMIT TO POETRY OBJECT
Red Room Poetry Object is Australasia’s largest free poetry-writing competition for young people, with over $10,000 in prizes to be won! Poetry Object ignites imaginations by inviting young writers (Years 3-10) and their teachers to create poems inspired by treasured, curious or talismanic objects.
Every year we publish new curriculum-aligned resources and commission celebrated poets to create original poems and deliver poetic learning workshops.
Since 2011, Poetry Object has encouraged creative literacy and community connection across Australasia. Every year we engage 3000+ students and teachers, and we have published over 15,000 poems to date.

Our 2019 commissioned poets are Stuart Barnes, Claire G Coleman, Arielle Cottingham, Pola Fanous, Eleanor Jackson, Benjamin Laird, Jacqui Malins and Zech Soakai. Each poet shares their own special object and insights into their writing process to kindle student and teacher imaginations.
