Literary organisations in Western Australia have expressed concern that their arts funding body, the Department for Culture and the Arts (DCA), has launched a review of their sector after cutting funding, instead of prior to the cuts.

‘We view the entire process with apprehension. In fact one of the odd things about this is really that a decision was made to cut funding to writingWA and other writing organisations by the State Government and after the event the state government conducts a review. It seems to me the cart was before the horse,’ said David Stewart, Deputy Chair of writingWA, the peak body for the sector in the state.
