Writers festivals are not just for the inner city set. This year the Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF) is championing the message that the festival is for everyone. A third of events are free and the program utilises venues in Eltham, Frankston, Nunawading and regional Victoria as well as the CBD.

‘We have spent a lot of time this year thinking about how people perceive writers’ festivals. We’ve known for a very long time that there are events for all sorts of people within the festival, but we don’t necessarily know that Greater Melbourne knows that,’ said MWF Director, Lisa Dempster.
