Plot & Structure

Faber Writing Academy

About the Course

with Sophie Cunningham

Course fee: $295 (inc. GST)

This workshop will hope to answer, or at least open up for consideration, a range of pertinent questions. What are the different types of plot? Do you even need one? How do you find a plot if you want one but they're not your thing? How do you maintain intensity and momentum with varied pacing?

While plot is related to structure they operate independently, so consideration will also be given to the ways in which they should both support and develop the other. How do you find the right structure for your novel?

Finally there will be a discussions of character and dialogue and the way they work together and towards particular plot lines and particular structures.

The workshop will combine discussion and exercises to help you find a way towards your own answers to these questions.

The workshop includes:

  • One full day's intensive tuition from 10am - 4pm
  • Lunch and regular tea & coffee breaks
  • A 10% discount on full priced books purchased at any Readings shop - the official bookseller for the Academy (not valid for online purchases, other offers, lay-bys or special orders)
  • A complimentary copy of a recent A&U publication

Book soon to avoid disappointment.
