Places filling fast! More information and bookings:

A five day intensive playwrights’ retreat facilitated by accomplished playwrights and held in the tropical paradise of Ubud Bali, 20 Oct – 24 Oct 2017. The retreat has been welcomed as a Fringe Event by the 2017 Ubud Writers and Readers Festival.

The retreat is designed for playwrights at any stage of their career or project to get valuable work done with the guidance and care of two very experienced facilitators. At The Playwright’s Retreat, you’ll have a chance to spend five days with your peers, new friends from all over the world. And with the 2017 Ubud Writers and Readers Festival commencing the same week, Ubud will be filled with well known writers and keen readers. The atmosphere in town at that time is truly electric.

The two facilitators who will lead the entire workshop and guide all participants through the journey are Tanika Gupta (England, festival director at Shakespeare's Globe), and Lachlan Philpott (Australia, 2016 writer in residence at Comedie Francaise, Paris).

Each evening, just as sunset begins, participants will gather to meet and chat about their day’s progress, with each other, the facilitators and the rest of the group.

Participants will be able to book TWO personal one-hour one-on-one sessions with the Facilitators during the week (one with each faciliator). The purpose of these special sessions is to allow participants dedicated self-time where the Facilitator is able to focus intensely on them, and also provide a bridge between the group/solo dynamic of the retreat.

A half-day cultural excursion that takes in some of the most memorable sights and experiences in and around Ubud is included in the retreat subscription and will take place mid-retreat.
