Monash University in collaboration with the Emerging Writers’ Festival is proud to present the Monash Undergraduate Prize for Creative Writing, a prestigious prize for emerging literary voices.
Now in its seventh year, the Prize is a significant literary award for new and emerging writers. The prize is open to both Australian and New Zealand university students, enrolled in either an undergraduate or honours degree. All types of creative writing will be accepted, including short stories, non-fiction narrative and narrative verse.
Monash has been the long-term education partner of the Emerging Writers’ Festival, and the Prize strengthens both parties’ commitment to providing learning and career development opportunities for emerging literary voices.
HOW IT WORKS:
First prize: $4000
Highest-Placed Monash University Student prize: $1000
Alice Grundy (co-founder of Seizure), Nic Low (author of Arms Race and Other Stories) and Stuart Grant (Monash University)
All types of creative writing will be accepted, including short stories, non-fiction narrative and narrative verse.
Opening date for entries: Monday 26 February 2018
Closing date for entries: 11:59pm, Sunday 15 April 2018
Shortlist announced: Tuesday 1 May 2018
Winner announced: Tuesday 19 June 2018
Any student enrolled in an undergraduate or honours degree at any university in Australia or New Zealand may enter. A student number and course code is required to enter.
